Description

SS-31 (Elamipretide) Dosage Protocol

SS-31, also known as Elamipretide, is a mitochondria-targeting peptide designed to support cellular energy production and oxidative stress reduction. It selectively binds to cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane, helping to stabilize mitochondrial structure, improve ATP production, and reduce reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Unlike hormone-based peptides, SS-31 works at the cellular energy level, making it valuable for research into fatigue reduction, muscle performance, cardiovascular support, and anti-aging applications.

This educational protocol outlines a daily subcutaneous dosing approach using a practical dilution for accurate measurement.

Reconstitute:
Add 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water → ~5 mg/mL (5000 mcg/mL) concentration (based on a 10 mg vial)

Typical Daily Protocol:

  • Start: 1 mg per day
  • Common range: 1–5 mg daily
  • Cycle Duration: 4–8 weeks (commonly used in research settings)

Easy Measuring:
At 5 mg/mL,

  • 1 unit = 0.01 mL ≈ 50 mcg on a U-100 insulin syringe

Example:

  • 1 mg dose ≈ 20 units
  • 2 mg dose ≈ 40 units
  • 5 mg dose ≈ 100 units (1 mL)

Administration:

  • Subcutaneous injection (abdomen or thigh)
  • Can be taken once daily, often in the morning for energy support
  • Rotate injection sites

Storage:

  • Lyophilized: Store at −20 °C (−4 °F)
  • After reconstitution: Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35.6–46.4 °F)
  • Protect from light and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles

Note:
SS-31 is commonly researched for its role in mitochondrial health, endurance, recovery, and age-related decline in cellular function. It may support improved energy levels, muscle performance, and reduced oxidative stress without directly affecting hormonal pathways.
